About the Book:

The series opens with the 1761 battle of Panipat, recounts the campaigns of Lord Lake, the two sieges of Bhurtpur: the first Afghan war; the battle of Maharaj pore, when Lord Gough smashed the Marhatta's for the last time; the two Sikh wars, bring up the tale of the mutiny and the nationalist movement in the offing.

Sir George Macmunn gives a pictorial account of the final conflict between the natives of Hindustan and the `burdened whites` which marked the advent of the civilized `Imperium` procured in scarlet letters.

To the historian it offers authentic knowledge of the wars and the general reader is spell-bound by the adventure it lures him into. The fiction is limited to the Elephant.
