About the Book:
Patanjali is name of many authors and over the last few decades‚?? lot of scholarships have been devoted on identifying this or these authors. While Patanjali is a revered sage in the Hindu spiritual world this identification continues to be an enigma. It is reported that these authors lived between 4th and 2nd century BEC in the Gupta ‚?? Maurya period. MahabhaŠĻ£ya a treatise in Sanskrit is credited to Patanjali. This book is on Sanskrit grammar based on Panin‚??s Astaadhyai. It also follows the rudiments of Katayana Bhasya or Varttikas. So vigorous, well-reasoned and vast is the text of Mhabhasya, that this Patanjali creation has been the authority as the last grammarian of classical Sanskrit for 2,000 years, with Panini and Katyayana preceding him. The Yogasutras is one of the most important texts in the Hindu tradition and the foundation of classical Yoga. It is a complete work on the Hindu philosophy, a nectarine exposition of Hindu Darshan. The Samadhi Pad explains and enunciates the eternal quest. This is followed by the Sadhana pad which expounds on the ways and means to attain Samadhi or success. Properly understood and religiously practiced this may yield success even in the material realm.

Yogasutra of Patanjali, by Dr. Kedar Nath Bandopadhyay
